Each client’s specific interests and developmental abilities are carefully considered in the implementation of the plan. During therapy, an BT will engage in a myriad of varying activities all targeting the clients’ personal skill deficits. Preferred activities are integrated into therapy. For example, we often play board games with our clients to work on turn-taking skills and social play. Our clients work on completing functional life skills like reading, unpacking backpacks, sorting laundry and sitting at the table to eat. We also engage in gross motor activities, such as riding bikes or dancing. Our goal at STEPS is to make therapy as enjoyable as possible while simultaneously facilitating maximum learning for a most successful outcome.
STEPS organizes Social skills groups run by a skilled professional which many of our clients benefit from. Groups run for 6-week sessions for 1 hour and 30 minutes each. To join groups that are forming now, contact us.
