With no need to travel to clinics, therapy sessions take place right at home, saving time and making it easier to fit therapy into busy family schedules.

Stronger Family Engagement

Caregivers receive practical strategies to support their child’s growth during daily activities, promoting lasting progress that extends beyond the therapy sessions.

STEPS Behavioral Health accepts most major insurance plans. Contact us with any questions about coverage in Maryland—we’re happy to help you explore your best options.

4 Easy Steps to In-Home ABA Therapy in Anne Arundel County

The role of parents and caregivers in the therapy process:

Assessment

You’ll meet with your BCBA to discuss your child's goals. The BCBA will observe your child’s behavior, assess their skills, and identify any challenges they may face. This helps create a tailored plan to support your child’s development.

Development

Your BCBA will create a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your child’s and family’s goals. They’ll coordinate with the therapy team and insurance provider to ensure the prescribed treatment is the most effective for your child’s needs.

Therapy

Therapy begins! You and your child will work with the therapy team on the goals set with the BCBA. You’ll check in regularly to track progress and learn the strategies your child is working on.

Monitoring

We keep an eye on your child's progress every step of the way. By regularly checking the data, we make adjustments to their plan to make sure it continues to meet their changing needs.

ABA therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis) is a research-backed method designed to enhance learning and behavior. It supports individuals with autism in developing essential life skills by reinforcing positive behaviors and minimizing those that hinder progress.

Yes! We offer social skills groups every evening for children over five who are receiving ABA therapy. Our Early STEPS program combines one-on-one therapy, group play, and activities tailored to each child’s abilities. Older clients also have opportunities to interact with peers in community settings, practicing age-appropriate skills in a fun, natural environment.

The number of ABA therapy hours varies based on each child’s individual needs. School-aged children typically receive about 15 hours per week, while those enrolled in the Early STEPS program usually receive around 30 hours per week. A minimum of 10 hours per week is required for effective therapy.

A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) is a master’s-level professional who creates, supervises, and adjusts treatment plans to ensure effective therapy. An RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) is a certified practitioner who works directly with clients, implementing ABA strategies under the guidance of a BCBA. A BT (Behavior Technician) performs similar tasks to an RBT but may not yet be certified. They assist with therapy sessions and follow treatment plans under the BCBA’s supervision.
Parents play a crucial role in reinforcing ABA strategies outside of therapy sessions. To support your child’s progress, your BCBA will provide training on how to apply these techniques effectively. By consistently using these strategies in daily routines, you can not only strengthen learning but also promote lasting behavioral growth.
ABA therapy is effective for children with autism who face challenges with problem behaviors, daily tasks, or learning new skills. If your child needs support in these areas, ABA therapy could be an excellent fit. Reach out to our team to find out how we can assist your child in making progress!
