Why Choose In-Home ABA Therapy on the Eastern Shore?

Developing Skills in Everyday Spaces

Children build essential skills in the spaces where they naturally interact, making therapy more effective. In-home ABA helps them develop and apply communication, motor, and social skills in real-life situations, fostering better learning and retention.

Makes Therapy Easy for Families

Therapy takes place in the comfort of your home, eliminating the need for travel. This saves time and simplifies scheduling, making it easier for busy families to stay involved.

Enhances Family Involvement

Caregivers learn practical strategies during therapy, making it easier to support their child’s growth throughout daily routines. This helps reinforce progress beyond sessions.

Accepted Insurance Plans

STEPS Behavioral Health accepts most major insurance plans. Reach out with any questions about coverage in Maryland—we’re here to help you find the best options.

The In-Home ABA Therapy Process on the Eastern Shore

The role of parents and caregivers in the therapy process:

Assessment

Meet with your BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) to discuss your child’s goals. They will assess behaviors, identify strengths, and determine areas where support is needed.

Development

Next, your BCBA will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child’s needs and family goals. They will then collaborate with the therapy team and your insurance provider to ensure access to the most effective treatment.

Therapy

Now, therapy begins! You and your child will work closely with the therapy team to implement the goals and plans developed with your BCBA. Through ongoing collaboration, you’ll track progress and adjust as needed. Plus, you’ll learn the same strategies your child is practicing to reinforce their growth at home.

Monitoring

Finally, we continuously monitor your child’s progress. By regularly reviewing data, we adjust their treatment plan to support their evolving needs and ensure continued growth.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Yes! For children over five, we can provide behavioral support in school if permitted. Most private schools allow ABA therapy during school hours, while most public schools do not. Our BCBAs can also attend IEP meetings and conferences to help address behavioral challenges and support your child’s success.
  2. If additional support is needed, STEPS Behavioral Health offers advocacy services for an out-of-pocket fee. Contact our intake coordinator for more details.
Yes, but coverage depends on your plan. Medicaid typically covers ABA therapy, while commercial insurance plans may require copays or have specific coverage limits.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) helps individuals build essential skills that enhance their daily lives. Through structured techniques, it teaches positive behaviors, reinforces progress, and reduces challenges that may interfere with independence. Additionally, ABA uses evidence-based strategies to create personalized interventions that support each person’s unique needs. While it is commonly used for autism, its principles also extend to education, mental health, and behavior management.
Absolutely! We provide evening social skills groups for children over five enrolled in ABA therapy. Our early intervention program, Early STEPS, combines individual therapy with group play and tailored activities. Additionally, older clients engage with peers in the community, building age-appropriate skills in a supportive and enjoyable setting.
The recommended hours of ABA therapy vary based on each child’s needs. The minimum recommendation is 10 hours per week, while school-aged children typically receive around 15 hours. Clients in our Early STEPS program often participate in 30 hours per week for more intensive support.
A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) is a highly trained professional with a master’s degree who designs and oversees ABA therapy programs. They assess behavior, create treatment plans, and adjust strategies based on data. An RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) is certified to implement ABA therapy under a BCBA’s supervision, working directly with clients to reinforce skills and track progress. A BT (Behavior Technician) also provides direct therapy but may not have RBT certification. While all three play key roles in ABA therapy, the BCBA focuses on program development, while RBTs and BTs work hands-on with clients to carry out the treatment plan.
Parents play a vital role in reinforcing ABA strategies outside of therapy sessions. Your BCBA will provide training to help you apply techniques that support your child’s learning. By consistently using these strategies in daily routines, you can strengthen skill development and encourage long-term progress. Regular communication with your child’s therapy team also helps ensure continued success.
ABA therapy can help children who struggle with problem behaviors, daily tasks, or learning new skills. It is especially beneficial for children with autism, providing structured support to improve communication, social interactions, and independence. If your child faces challenges in these areas, ABA therapy may be a valuable option. Contact our team to learn more about how we can help.
