Why Choose In-Home ABA Therapy in Dundalk?

Real-World Learning

Skills are most effectively developed in environments where they naturally occur. Children learn and apply skills like communication, motor activities, and social interactions in familiar settings. This approach makes therapy more effective and helps create lasting progress.

Easy and Convenient for Families

With therapy taking place right at home, there's no need for travel. This saves valuable time and makes scheduling sessions easier for busy families in today’s fast-paced world.

Stronger Family Support

Caregivers are provided with practical strategies to support their child’s development in daily routines. These strategies encourage lasting growth that continues beyond therapy sessions.

Insurance Plans We Work With

STEPS Behavioral Health accepts most major insurance plans. Contact us with any questions about coverage in Maryland—we’re happy to help you explore your best options.

In-Home Aba Therapy in Dundalk: 4 Simple Steps

The role of parents and caregivers in the therapy process:

Assessment

Meet with your BCBA (Board-Certified Behavior Analyst) to discuss your child’s goals. The BCBA will observe your child’s behavior, assess their skills, and identify any challenges they may face.

Development

The second step involves your BCBA (Board-Certified Behavior Analyst) creating a customized treatment plan that aligns with your child’s and family’s goals. They will work closely with the therapy team and your insurance provider to recommend the most effective treatment for your child’s needs.

Therapy

Therapy starts! You and your child will work closely with the therapy team on the goals set with the BCBA. Regular check-ins will help ensure progress. You’ll also learn the strategies your child is using to support their development.

Monitoring

Lastly, we track your child’s progress regularly. We review the data and make adjustments to the plan as needed. This ensures your child’s evolving needs are met, promoting steady growth and success.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. For children over 5, we provide school-based behavioral support where allowed. While many private schools permit ABA therapy, most public schools do not. Our BCBAs can also participate in IEP meetings and school conferences to offer expert guidance on behavioral strategies.
  2. For families needing extra support, STEPS Behavioral Health offers advocacy services for an additional fee. Contact our intake coordinator to learn more about how we can assist you.
Insurance coverage varies by plan. Medicaid generally covers ABA therapy, while commercial insurance may include copays or coverage limits. To understand your specific benefits, contact your insurance provider for details.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) helps individuals build important life skills. It teaches positive behaviors, reinforces good actions, and reduces disruptive ones. Using proven techniques, ABA creates personalized interventions for each person. While commonly used for autism, it also supports education, mental health, and behavior management.
Yes we do! We provide social skills groups every evening for children over five who are enrolled in ABA therapy. Our Early STEPS program, designed for children 18 months to 5 years, blends individual therapy with group play and activities tailored to each child’s needs. Older clients also have opportunities to engage with peers in the community, practicing age-appropriate skills in real-world settings. This approach strengthens learning and encourages social growth in a fun, supportive environment.
The recommended hours of ABA therapy vary based on each child’s needs. To see meaningful progress, at least 10 hours per week is required. School-aged children usually receive around 15 hours weekly, while our Early STEPS program offers up to 30 hours per week.
A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) is a master’s-level professional who creates, supervises, and adjusts ABA therapy plans to ensure meaningful progress. They assess each client’s needs, develop strategies, and oversee treatment. An RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) is a certified professional who works directly with clients. Under BCBA supervision, they implement behavior plans, track progress, and provide hands-on support. A BT (Behavior Technician) performs similar duties to an RBT but may not yet be certified. They assist in therapy sessions, follow treatment plans, and support clients under the guidance of a BCBA.
Parents and caregivers are key to reinforcing ABA strategies beyond therapy sessions. With guidance from your BCBA, you’ll receive training to implement effective techniques at home. By regularly incorporating these strategies into daily routines, you can enhance your child’s progress, encourage learning, and promote lasting behavioral development.
ABA therapy is highly effective for children with autism who struggle with problem behaviors, daily tasks, or learning new skills. It provides personalized strategies to help build independence, improve communication, and enhance social interactions. If your child needs support in these areas, ABA therapy could be a valuable solution. Contact our team to learn how we can help your child thrive.
