4 Simple Steps to In-Home ABA Therapy in Catonsville
The role of parents and caregivers in the therapy process:
Assessment
First, meet with your BCBA to discuss your child's goals and needs. They will observe your child's behavior, assess their strengths, and identify areas for growth.
Development
Next, your BCBA will create a treatment plan tailored to your child’s needs and family goals. They will collaborate with the team and your insurance provider to advocate for the most effective prescribed therapy.
Therapy
Therapy starts! You and your child will work closely with the therapy team to implement the goals and plans developed with the BCBA. Regular check-ins will ensure progress, and you'll also learn strategies to support your child's growth.
Monitoring
We continuously track your child's progress to ensure they receive the best support. Regular data reviews allow us to adjust their treatment plan as their needs evolve, promoting ongoing growth and development.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do You Offer Support in Schools?
- We offer behavioral support for children over the age of 5 in schools that permit ABA therapy. While many private schools allow these services, most public schools do not. Our BCBAs can participate in IEP meetings and conferences to provide guidance on behavioral strategies tailored to your child’s needs.
- For families seeking additional assistance, STEPS Behavioral Health provides advocacy services for an out-of-pocket fee. Contact our intake coordinator for more information on how we can support your child’s educational journey.
Does Insurance Cover ABA Therapy?
ABA therapy is often covered by insurance, but coverage details depend on your specific plan. Medicaid typically includes ABA therapy, while commercial insurance plans may require copays or have certain limitations. For more information, reach out to your insurance provider.
What Are the Main Goals of ABA Therapy?
Is ABA Therapy Available in a Group Setting?
How Many Hours of ABA Therapy Does a Child Need Each Week?
The number of ABA therapy hours needed varies based on each child’s unique needs. School-aged children typically receive around 15 hours per week, while those in our Early STEPS program average 30 hours per week. To support meaningful progress, a minimum of 10 hours per week is required.
How Do a BCBA, RBT, and BT Differ?
A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) holds a master’s degree and is responsible for creating, overseeing, and adjusting treatment plans to ensure effective therapy. An RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) is a certified professional who works directly with clients, implementing ABA strategies under the supervision of a BCBA. A BT (Behavior Technician) performs similar duties to an RBT but may not yet be certified. They support therapy sessions and follow treatment plans under the guidance of a BCBA.
